Belly Button Post Lap TMI Pic 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hi, I had a lap a week ago tomorrow and something is protruding from my belly button-neither me or my husband can work out what it is, doesn’t seem to be either stitches or part of me 🤦🏼‍♀️ I dare not pull it, it’s not painful but is irritating me, any ideas on what it is guys?

*UPDATE*

So I can now see that some of it is metal, I phoned the dr and he thinks it is a staple?! Which is bizarre as I was told I only had dissolving stitches. A district nurse is coming to sort it out 👍🏻

The nurse won’t come out and the drs can’t fit me in 🤦🏼‍♀️ so it will have to wait until I’m up to a trip to the walk in over the weekend!

Double yuck lol don’t know what’s worse 😂. It’s not leaking, all wounds are looking pretty dry and healing ok-the belly button has some crusty dry blood the first time I changed my dressings but I just gently wiped round. This protruding thing that’s popping out was not there then it seems to be working its way forward and I can feel it’s there now. Gross 😆 how are you doing x

Oh no I have no idea what that could be, maybe someone else on here would know. I am really good now, feeling way better. Apart from your belly button are you recovering well now? X

Yeah pretty much but only since today really, I was in some really bad pain, dr has give me some tramadol which has sorted me out, and also some bowel stuff called laxido, which worked wonders with expelling gas 😳💨. So that helped too. It’s got my bowels moving but that causes me to start bleeding again 🤦🏼‍♀️ and is painful. I’m guessing that’s from where they prised my ovary away from the bowel. But despite all that I think I’m doing ok! I’m glad you are feeling good too xxxx

Hi my lovely it’s just some leftover blood and maybe some secretion from ur wound which has solidified. But even then I would suggest u go to ur gp for a clean up and be sure there’s no underlying infection. This is not something to be ignored.

I hope you can get this sorted!!

I had my lap on Tuesday and changed my dressings today. Belly button seemed fine (a bigger incision than I had hoped - looks like a slot machine!) but my bikini line one had some extra tape that I daren't touch under the dressing - it was kind of stiffened from the blood (I guess) and looked a bit grim, it could be that? Although the metal bit doesn't sound ideal!

I asked a nurse to check them yesterday but she didn't want to take the dressings off, however, with the new tape discovery, that I wasn't told about, now not sure if/when to try to remove it, I'm going to try to speak to my GP Monday.

Hi, I had the tape over too, it’s just like an extra wide steri-strip-mine too went hard and just came off on their own when they were ready, about 5 days after. I do think it could be one of those wrapped around. It’s been a week now so all my dressings are off as instructed, look ok with the exception of that one! Xxx
