How soon can I drive?

I had a laproscopy on Friday which diagnosed endo and had some adhesions lasered away. I'm still feeling a bit sore and bruised but generally ok. Do you think I'd be ok to drive tomorrow? I'm not sure whether there are any guidelines and I forgot to ask my gynae.

Hi!

To be honest, everyone’s recovery time is different but I think it’s brilliant that you feel so well.

My advice would be to just use good judgment and common sense really. Look after your incisions.

As long as you know it’s safe enough for you to drive, I’d be the same as you and get in my car!

Please just make sure you are definitely up to it.

Good luck 🙂

Thanks, I think I'll try a short drive and see how it goes. I'm signed off work for two weeks and I'm definitely going to use that time to recover properly but I'm going a bit stir crazy! I'm normally quite active and I know I can't go for a run or anything for a while but it would be nice to find a park to have a bimble round or something.

I just had a preop and they said 48 hours and you have to be able to do an emergency stop without pain. Or be capable of one.

Thanks, well it's definitely been over 48 hours and I think I could manage an emergency stop. I'm off painkillers now so I'm not woozy anymore and although I have some bruising pain around my belly button incision it's manageable.

Yeah so I would say you are completely fine to :) hope the op went well!

It did thanks. She found endo and said that basically everything was stuck to everything else but she was able to laser all the adhesions and thinks she got all/most of it. It went as well as it possibly could have done I think.
