So months on since I started my process of finding out what was wrong with me and I got my date for my MRI. I turn up and basically felt like they did not want to go through with the scan. Every answer I had was being scrutinized (I do understand theres procedures and it is for safety). Because I constantly bleed every day I needed to have taken a pregnancy test before hand. None of this was said before I turned up. They even suggested I needed more bloods done because Im allergic to strawberries!!! I was thinking what they going to do throw strawberries at me during the MRI? But apprently it can linked to iodine?!? Its not the first time ive wrote out my allergies at this hospital so how has it only been flagged up on the day of my MRI 😫 So I was turned away without getting it and now have to wait until the 30th. The nurse even had the audacity to say I dont think its important to the receptionist. Honestly way to make me feel like Im making a mountain out of a mole hill with the pain and issues I live with every day.
Sorry for the rant!!
What happens when you get your results? My follow up is booked in on the 7th and I know I need open surgery for my cysts already - whats the usual time scale for surgery after your first follow up.
Thanks for reading x

Hey, I’m sorry this happened to you. I would contact PALS tell them what’s happened and that you need a scan ASAP. They were helpful for me for getting a surgery date, I never had an MRI scan
I had my gynae appointment in January, the pre op in June and the lap in July.
I second princessk09 I would complain to PALS about the treatment you got as it seems to be unprofessional.
I can understand the checks but these should have been done beforehand. If you have certain allergies you have a higher risk of allergic reaction to the contrast material they use for MRIs. 5% of those with a food allergy end up having an allergic reaction to radiocontrast material so it’s something they are really really cautious about.
The big safety thing comes from the fact MRI machines can't be turned off and are highly magnetic, so if you were to have a huge allergic reaction to something, they would have to pull you out the machine, take you out of the room before they could get any equipment to you such as oxygen or whatever. If they were to bring oxygen cylinders into the room they would fly into the machine and blow it up.
I mean you can deliver all this information without being rude, there's no need to make someone feel like crap even if there has been a screw up, screw ups happen, but how you communicate them and make people feel is important as well.
