Pregnancy aches and pains

Hi all,

I have been seeing my GP with symptoms of endo for about a year now. A scan found a cyst on one of my ovaries, and I am currently waiting to see an endo specialist in Jan.

I had convinced myself that I couldn’t have children, when all of a sudden, my period was late and the tests say I’m pregnant! Yay!

I am now about 6/7 weeks, but I have been getting what feels like period pains. The cramping and aching you get in the run up to your period. No bleeding at all, but I’m just worried about the aches?

Also, we had sex the other day, and although the sex itself wasn’t so painful (just the usual discomfort that I’m used to with suspected endo) afterwards I was in agony! I mean physically shaking with pain, doubled over, unable to move style pain. This lasted for a good half an hour to an hour. To the point we were considering calling 111, but eventually it subsided.

Has anybody else experienced this with endo and pregnancy?

I have my first midwife appt in about 3 weeks where I’ll bombard her with all sorts of questions! Poor woman. But for now, I’m just hoping I can find some reassurance on here?

I miscarried a few years ago and I’m just terrified it’ll happen again. At the moment we will have to live with no sex until I can be sure it’s not harming the baby. And of course I don’t particularly want that much pain again either!

Thank you x

I'm sorry to read your having pain & a bit of a worrying time. I have stage 4 Endometriosis & had cramping like period pains most days until well into my pregnancy. I'm 34 weeks now & still have the odd days where it feels like this. I was terrified in the early weeks as I'd had 2 previous miscarriages. For me it didn't cause a problem. X

That’s really comforting to know, thank you :)

Not long to go for you now! X

No, I'm booked in for a c section 4 weeks tomorrow 🙂. I hope your midwife is helpful & you go on to have a happy & healthy pregnancy. It's scary but the months do go fairly quickly. X
