I’m new here and joined after having a pretty horrible day (I needed reassurance!).
I’m awaiting my first laparoscopy and hysteroscopy to deal with this devilish endo.. ive been waiting five weeks since my appointment with the consultant.
I quite honestly feel as though I’m unraveling.. I feel anxious, depressed and as though I have ocd at times, I’m also a hormonal dragon to my partner 50% of the time. I feel hijacked!
I’m so tired that when I’m not asleep I’m wishing I was, and I feel vacant (and self conscious about it). My mind literally draws blank and I then I become anxious that I’ve got dementia!
I don’t know what stage of endo I have, but my stomach is bloated and sore this evening, my back and hips always ache.
I couldn’t weight bare a few weeks ago and stayed in bed for two days as my knees and calves felt hot and painful..
sorry for the rant! It has literally been one of those days of hormones and tears!! Xxx

I have been just where you are, as have many others. Endo creates its own version oestrogen so that does affect your mental state. But research has also shown that women with endo have high levels of a chemical called IL-6, the body creates this in response to inflammation and it seems it detects endo as just that. IL-6 very much affects your mental health, I suggest you look it up on wiki for a full explanation.
So be reassured you are not going insane, it is the chemicals caused by the endo that are doing this to you. You may also find that a decent Vitamin B supplement helps, one that has all the different B vitamins (they are usually list by name such as Thiamin, Folic Acid etc.) the Tesco B-Comlex only has 3, Morrisons and Wilko's have all of them. There's also a lot of multi-vitamin multi-mineral tablets that have a good balance, I think those are best because your body is under such a strain that you need all the help you can get.
I didn’t know about the extra oestrogen, or IL-6; I don’t think I’m a fan of that chemical! I will indeed research up on that so thank you for the heads up.
Incidentally I have just stockpiled a variety of multivits as I was frantically searching for something (ANYTHING!!) to alleviate my symptoms.
