Result! For once!

So, today after so much pain I had my first laporoscopy. I had been worried sick for weeks, after reading posts about surgeons finding nothing. The pain was ruining me, i could barely do anything. Luckily, I have the best supportive friends who came and brought me popcorn and sweeties and had movie nights with me. Also, family and my boyfriend who have helped me so much. I only live with my boyfriend now, with a mortgage, at 21 and 22, so life was getting pretty stressful with me being sick but he was completely supportive and did basically everything for me.

I first on the waiting list this morning, was told it was cause i'd be quick and the easiest surgery. Would probably take 30 minutes they said. 3.5 hrs later, i finally came out of surgery. Once id came back around, the surgeon told me they found severe endo EVERYWHERE. my womb, tubes, bowel, pod, pelvis. You name it, i had it. After all that worrying the excrutiating pain was all in my head, i was proved right and they were surprised i hadnt went to a&e earlier it was so severe. Feels nice to know they finally appreciate my pain.

Im SO sore at the moment, but ive now had as much endo removed as they could and the coil fitted. Lets hope that im now on the road to recovery. I wanted to post this to give other girls a positive outlook on the surgery, as the whole lead up to it i was completely freaking out. Much love!

It can be good to get a diagnosis to validate your symptoms and pain. It's ridiculous that we often have to 'prove the doctors wrong' through.

I hope that the surgery and coil help with your symptoms and that you'll now have a good medical team around you.

I hope you heal well.

Xx

I had the same thing, I had to fight hard for them to take me seriously then the operation took 2 and a half hours, the consultant had to be called in to assist and I lost a litre of blood. The consultant said afterwards "you must have been in an awful lot of pain" (no shit!) and "you were losing so much blood into your pelvis that even two weeks more and you would have been in serious problems" (good job I didn't believe them when they told me I would be ok then!).

It's so awful that women's pain is ignored or dismissed so often when, if you think about it, the average woman goes through far more pain than the average man so know when something is wrong.
