Mirena removal...
I’ve had my coil removed tonight and going cold turkey. I’d be interested in anyone who has done this aswell xx
Do let me know how you get on, Iv decided after lots of reading of forums and groups to also have mine removed. Think my body just crying out for a rest! Hope all goes well. Take care xx
I had mine removed when I had my laporoscopy at the end of May and not using any other contraception. Was starting to wonder when I would start my period as my lap was 7 weeks ago but I started yesterday and it is a bit of a shock as I had my coil for over 3 and a half years!
Iv been using the coil for over 7 years now, had it changed once. Feel like my body needs a rest.
I had mine in for just over 3 and a half years but I’ve been suffering with pelvic pain, irregular spotting, water infections and bowel issues for over a year. Turns out I had a 7cm cyst on my left ovary and a 2cm cyst on my right ovary. Both cysts were removed and have been confirmed that they were endometriosis. I also decided to have my coil removed whilst I was under and now I’m having my first period for years and it feels awful!!!
Little update, today I had Mirena coil removed which was painless. Before removal I had a good long chat with the nurse about reasons why I wanted it out, about endo and about what happens next. She was a credit to the NHS and really put my mind at ease. I will keep this thread updated with how I get on but feel the most positive I have done in a while! X
Almost every hormone hasn’t agreed with me so I was cold turkey for a while. I used the app “clue” to monitor my cycle and symptoms and it was helpful to know what to expect each month.
Eventually (I’m talking years) my periods got worse and worse. Most my endo symptoms are all month but I began to feel more unwell, had frequent cold sores and ulcers so I am currently trying jaydess (smaller dose and size). It may not help endo (that is yet to be discovered) but for me if I can become period free that’s one less thing to worry about.
Previously progesterone has given me acne, weight gain, bloating, depression and constant heavy bleeding. I am three or four weeks into jaydess and so far so good! I am hoping that this “smaller dose” is just right for me.
Day 5 since Mirena removal and yesterday i found out what its like to 'Mirena Crash' (google - Mirena Crash Symptoms. Mirena crash symptoms include: Runaway emotions such as anxiety, sadness, anger and depression. Severe cases have produced suicidal thoughts)
Heavy spotting yesterday, which today has now gone along with being an emotional wreck.... hope this subsides soon feeling like i could cry for a month.
