I’m sorry to rant but I’ve just been to my GP as I’m in agony and don’t have my consult appointment for 4 weeks and all she can advise is ‘be strong’ and ‘deal with the hand life has given me’ oh and take paracetamol 😡😡😡
I’m at breaking point 😭😭😭

Firstly never be sorry about needing to off load and to need support from this site; I need to many times! And these ladies here are so lovely & supportive.
Secondly I’m so sorry to hear your GPS attitude woah how dismissive . This is the issue medics not taking our symptoms more seriously. 🤦🏽♀️
Thirdly have you been diagnosed? Or are you in the process? The reason I ask is because can you take your concerns to your specialist? They understand endo much better although I’ve been my GP has been very good my ex GP wasn’t tho so & thought I was putting the pain on like it couldn’t be that bad. So understand how it feels.
Would suggest calling 111 if the pain becomes too much they can arrange for you to talk to about of hours doctor who can arrange to see you and at least give you better painkillers to ease the pain so you are at least more comfortable. I did this when I was under my ex GP and found the out of hours doctors much more supportive than he was 🤦🏽♀️ if you take strong pain killers do use laxatives as you can get blocked up and cause you more pain.
All the best do let us know how you get on xoxo
Hi Ellen, have you thought of going private to see a consultant? I know it can be around £150, but I wish someone had advised me to go. I was fobbed off for 4 years by my gp and was offfered painkillers and antidepressants!! Then I had no knowledge of endo and was very naive. Keep telling your gp until they listen. In the mean time maybe look in to diet and exercise. That’s what I had to do in the end and it made a big difference with regard to pain. I had to give up my job as couldn’t keep it down what with sleepless nights etc. I saw a specialist endo consultant which is another thing I wasn’t aware existed. But probs 4 years too late, after regular gynae surgeons. Well worth researching one and getting seen by them. Good luck. Xx
Thanks guys. It’s been 9 years now of dealing with this and I think going private is the way forward. Xx
Yes I ended up paying to see a private consultant. They can refer you back to NHS for surgery. Moved things along much quicker. Shocking Doctor!
Sorry to hear this, how long have you waited for your appointment? It would be worth calling your consultants secretary (NHS or private), explain your situation and ask them if they can give you a cancellation appointment or see you sooner. I've been under the same NHS dept for 15 years and the only way I get taken seriously is speaking directly to the doctor's secretary. It's crazy we have to wait for re referrals for on on going issue. Good luck and don't let them fob you off. X
