Hi there,

Can anyone recommend an alternative to Desunin 800 IU Tablets for vitamin D deficiency, I've tried the Boots versions but they are so large and not good at taking tablets :(

Thanks for your help xx

I don't know about tablets but you can get an oral spray; I use the DLUX3000 IU (available on amazon) there's lower doses too.

Can I ask if it’s an issue with the size of the tablets? If so, there is a generic version available so you could ask to see them if your pharmacy have them in to see if they are suitable. Alternatively, the 400u tablets (I think the brand name is Aciferol) aren’t huge, so maybe you could take 2 of those instead?

I forgot to add; any OTC Vitamin D preparation will only have 25u of Vitamin D and will be nowhere near as strong as prescription versions. I think there are oral drops your GP can prescribe if really struggling-hope this helps. X

If you get a lot of prescriptions (more than 4 in 3 months), it might be worth investing in a pre-payment card nhsbsa.nhs.uk/help-nhs-pres...

I have one which has saved me a small fortune - I found it useful when I had an unexpected prescription as it meant I didn't have to budget for it - it was already paid for.
