Pin prick pain in cervix before period

So I’m currently awaiting laparoscopy (18th July) but I’m on the combined pill (gederal 30/150mg) for my periods which has been a life saver I now have a 5 day period every two months compared to before where I was bleeding every single day and always after sex. Question for you ladies just before your withdrawal bleed during the break do you ever get pin prick sensations in your cervix?

I’ve tried trawling the internet and it’s all pregnant ladies who are feeling it but I’ve been taking my pill like it’s my job and withdrawal bleed has given me this sensation before.

Hi I had exactly this and it stressed me out thinking something was wrong so I went to my gp.

have you had smear tests? did they show up anything? sometimes they get abnormal cell results back and won't say anything as they're not cancerous.

My smear test came back abnormal and I had already mentioned pain on my cervix during sex and bleeding / spotting afterwards with what feels like needle pains in my cervix afterwards too. They took further smears and sent them off, which came back with cervical ectropion - sensitive cells further up inside the uterus appear at the base, as these are thinner they tear easier causing the pain and bleeding. It's a random mutation, not caused by anything - and can be easily treated. I had mine removed chemically (there's also freezing and lazer), happy to give you more info but it's really simple to have done and can be a 30 min hospital appt.

First thing though definitely get your gp to take a look at your cervix and take swabs as pain and bleeding during / after sex is not normal.

Other pain / bleeding could be something else - worth mentioning that too - it's only once I had the cervix pain sorted could my gp then focus on the period / endo pains.

Thanks for this it was really informative and I’ve had a quick research myself it sounds very similar to mine.

I’ve never had a smear with only being 20 but I think it may be worth a trip to the gp and see if there is anything they can see/do

definitely chat to your gp, they can do swabs for all kinds of things, they may just have a visual look and book you in with a nurse for the actual swabs etc but it's a start

just don't be put off if they ask about any sti's they're just doing their job!
