A&E

I am currently on an 18 month waiting list to see gynea and I have a GP that refuses to prescribe adequate pain relief. On sunday the pain was so bad my partner took me to A&E. While there one doctor told me that the pain was all due to anxiety and another told me he “was an EMERGENCY doctor that deals with LIFE THREATENING conditions”. Im not sure If I was being treated as a malingerer, but it felt that way, even though it was my first time there.

I feel like I’m being completely ignored. I have no idea what to do. It was my GP that told me to use A&E if the pain gets too bad and the A&E doctors just tell me to go to my GP. Nobody wants to deal with me and instead try to brush me off onto someone else.

Im at the end of my rope. What can I do?

If your gp is unwilling to help. You could try booking an appointment with another within the same practice. They hopefully will be more helpful, understanding and reasonable and try to help and offer suitable pain relief.

Some GPs aren’t helpful and some are. You just have to keep trying different ones. A&E can’t really do much apart from give you painkillers which is what your gp is kinda there for xx
