Not sure what to expect

Hi all. So I’ve been on mefenamic acid now as a trial to see if it will ease my symptoms any but so far I’ve had no relief. I am going back to the doc on Friday to see what next steps are but I’m just a bit anxious, I’m not sure what to expect... has anyone had any experience with this ?

GPs usually want to try you on a few different tablets before referring you to gynae, I had to go through about 2 years of this and tried endless amounts of different tablets that didn't work. Even then I had to more or less demand to be referred x

That is very frustrating, I hope that you finally found something that worked! I think then when I go tomorrow I will just ask to see the gynae then... hopefully that can speed things along. I’m having to take time off work and everything I can’t go through month after month of this 😩 xx

I finally had my first lap on Monday and was diagnosed with stage 3 endo, does your doctor suspect endo? xx

Yeah he thinks that what it is... he’s referred me to a specialist today and given me some tranexamic acid in the mean time. I hope you feel better and are recovering well xxx

I didn’t notice any difference after taking mefenamic acid but I think sometimes it can be a trial and error game as women seem to respond so differently to meds to ease endo symptoms! 🙁 X

Hi RhiMcP, yes I was put on mefenamic acid for years with suspected endo but it was a long time before I got a diagnosis. It helped initially for a couple of years (I just took it in the run up to and during periods) but then I was put on naproxen for pain instead as it was getting worse. Try and get a diagnosis as soon as possible - the only thing that has helped me is surgery, the mini pill and diclofenic which I take on and off to help reduce inflammation when I have a flare up. Hope you get some answers soon! In the meantime I suggest hot baths, a heat pad and lots of fresh ginger/turmeric in your diet to help with symptoms :)
