TMI sex question 😂

So, I’m on the journey to being diagnosed, with many symptoms- from pain to fatigue to bowel and bladder issues. Sex has not normally caused me pain during unless it is very deep, at which point I thought most women suffered-nobody wants a bruised cervix 😆 but over the last 18 months pain after sex (deep, dragging/cramping) has been pretty much standard.

For this reason my husband and I had a couple of months off, but after a lovely evening 🤭 I found I bled slightly (fresh red) after sex which has not happened before (and the mirena has stopped my periods) and my husband said it felt different-like there was an obstacle in his way and his penis didn’t go in straight like it used to, it had to go round. I can’t feel anything specific, and I had an internal with my gyne only up to a month ago, who said everything was ok, although I do have an anteverted uterus but on reading about this it shouldn’t effect anything-it’s quite common. I have made a telephone appointment to speak to my go about it just in case.

My question is, has anyone else experienced anything like this, with their partner telling them something has changed?

Hello emmaquinng, when reading your post I remembered myself about 2/3 years ago. It was the mirena coil in the way, the mirena coil was not happy 😆 so she had slowly crept down and within a few days/weeks (don’t really remember) it came out completely. Have you tried checking if it’s still in place? If not I’d definitely recommend you check

That’s a good call. I know the strings were in place when I had my check up a month ago, I’ve never actually been able to feel them. I will ask the doc if it is a possibility. I get the feeling that the ‘obstacle’ wasn’t that far up! Thanks for your help x

Hi Emma,

I don’t have the coil but have had the same situation recently. Myself and my partner both commented on it feeling different and like an obstacle in the way.. I’ve just been diagnosed with moderate endo so I’m not sure if this is the cause?

I’m sorry you’ve had this situation but I’m glad I’m not alone! I was wondering if it could be endo if that is indeed the root of all my problems. At the moment my abdomen hurts to touch and just feels so full, I was wondering if it could be inflamed and causing things to protrude down there. Let me know if you find out what it is! X

I had the same problem, the pain after sex and sometimes during was so bad I would have to take para and codeine before which didn’t always help and I used a hot water bottle afterwards. I’ve had two laps and after the second one which cleared endo on the pouch of Douglas the pain wasn’t as bad and only really comes now if I have sex the week before my period is due. I’ll take that for progress, I still have endo in my bowel which I need an operation to clear so that might explain the pain I still have.

Thanks for taking the time to reply I’m sorry you had to experience this but I’m glad it’s not as bad now. Did you also have the vaginal obstacle as well as pain?
