I had an endometriosis removal surgery seven years ago and a week later after this operation my surgeon inserted the mirena. I went back to the surgeon in 1 and half weeks to have it removed. I was told by the surgeon he removed it. Seven years later i find out that it was still inside me. I suffered excruciating pain for 7 years thinking that this is the pain from the disease of endometriosis. Before this operation of endometriosis i was a very active person. For seven years i do nothing other than sit at home in pain or go to work in pain , i have no social life nothing, no relationship. Even after this mirena was removed just 3 months ago, i am still suffering in pain from where the mirena perforated.
Did your surgeon tell you they removed th... - Endometriosis UK
Did your surgeon tell you they removed the mirena, completely, but never found it , and it was still inside you perforated for 6 years?
If it’s written in your medical records your doctor removed it, and this isn’t the case as you now know and you’ve been suffering for many years because of his actions, this sounds like a medical negligence case, because your doctors actions have lead to you having further effects from that, that severely impact your life and have consequences such as something as severe as a perforated uterus! Hope everything starts looking up from here on out but your doctors have put you through 7 years of hell and that isn’t right!! X
So sorry to hear this 😥 definitely negligence - you need to talk to a solicitor
Hi Joasia,
I'm sorry to hear about this and that you have been suffering so long. If this was done on the NHS, you should consider talking to the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to get some guidance on making a complaint. You can find your nearest one here:
nhs.uk/Service-Search/Patie...
There is also more information on making a complaint here:
nhs.uk/nhsengland/complaint...
Hope this helps and that you recover soon.
