Medical induced menopuse

Been to see gynaecologist today. He Gave me an internal that was agony, asked lots of questions and I didn’t feel rushed at all. He isn’t 100% sure it’s endo but agrees something needs to happen. So is giving me an early menapuse for three months if that stops all my symptoms , then I’ll have a hysterectomy.

Some answers at least. But god I’m in pain now x

Can I ask if you already have a diagnosis of endo or if this will be your first surgery? If you don't have confirmed disease they should not be rushing you into a hysterectomy as it might not help - it's only recommended in very specific circumstances and isn't a cure for endo.

I won’t have surgery for at least three months.

I’ve had a lot of various surgeries and nothing has helped if the pain goes then it’s pretty likely it’s my womb/ovaries etc causing the issues. Ive had four kids and I’m 41 so if the pain is taken away with a hysterectomy then I will go with it. But will take the medicine for three mo the first to see.

I did this. Zoladex implants. It worked great although it didn't stop all the pain. I am having a hysterectomy next week. The first few weeks were bad as I was bleeding alot but it stopped after that. I did have menopausal symptoms especially hot flushes. Hope it works for you xx

What is the implant? I never thought to ask what the medicine would be, I assumed tablets but have read about injection and now you saying implants I’m beginning to wonder :/

Did you gain any weight? I’m really worried about that. My dr said they are doing this in hope all the pain goes otherwise it isn’t my ovaries etc with endo. I’m worried that if all the pain doesn’t go then they will give up and tell me it’s somehubf else causing all this.

Xx

Mine was called zoladex it is an implant that my gp put into my stomach. One a month for three months. It did bring on menopause symptoms but I expected it. I did also put on weight unfortunately. But it was worth it. I had about two months free from pain. It doesn't work for everyone. It's definitely worth a try. But be prepared for hot flushes, night sweats and sleepless nights. Good luck xx

I was on visanne which is a tablet taken daily. Not sute if its available in the uk. I couldnt tolerate it but it maybe worth considering as if you dont want an implant ie zoladex you can stop it.

Maybe worth talking to your gp/consultant.

Also i must warn you, that my consultant informed me that having a hysterectomy is the LAST resort as it releases wellbeing hormones and therefore you maybe placed onto long term hrt.

Please get as much info on your present diagnosis. Have you had a laparoscopy? Please have one done before anything else which will confirm the Endo.

Then you can think about treatment options and decide together with your gp/consultant.

Please dont go to straight to hysterectomy :0)
