Time from preop to lap?

Hi guys,

Finally got a date for my preop next month. Was wondering how long it usually takes from preop to surgery? Am I right in thinking the surgery is usually pretty soon after preop for it to be relevant? My GP said roughly within 3 weeks? Such bad timing that I have two hen parties and maid of Honor at my best friends wedding ☹️ Been in so much pain I really can’t afford to put the date back. And if the surgery is within a set time of the preop, did anyone have any say as to when they wanted it? I’m having my Sugery at Poole hospital x

I think this really depends on where and what the waiting list is like. I didn't even have a pre-op at all! Some people seem to have it in the next few weeks and others I think it is quite a while, like a few months? Your best bet is just to keep nagging them, but obvs you and they will have a better idea after the pre-op. I know I'm not being helpful but just because I saw no one had replied yet! It can be tricky especially if you've got important events coming up but your health is paramount and good friends will understand. I would just imagine worst-case scenario and plan accordingly so you are prepared if it is. You could also ring up when you get the appointment and see if on the off-chance there is a slightly later date that wouldn't mean waiting that much longer if it does clash. Good luck x

Hi, I requested for my surgery to be in 3 months time (not at the same hospital) but my preop is in June and my surgery is about 4 weeks later. Hope this helps a little x

my pre op is two weeks before my op, they keep it relatively close normally.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Just so frustrating to be told one thing by my GP and then another by a ward clerk. I will just wait for tomorrow and ask the nurse. Hopefully it’s not too long now. Just can’t go on much longer with how things are.
