hi all

Iam 45 and perimenopause. started a year ago 3 yrs after my last child was born. started hot flushes skin changes happened just suddenly like mild acne but no spots! more sebumy like and kind of pigmented rashy looking. anyway was prescribed BCP rigevidon stayed on for a year didn't really help so she put me on Yasmin saying it was safe coz iam a non smoker and no serious health issues.... been on the Yasmin just over 2 weeks now and have awful pm symptoms and spotting and skin looks worse too! Ian really concerned about the dangers I've read about this pill and sou see why my gp put me on this when it says it's risky over 35??!! ive heard on here about the bioidentical hrt which is more natural and safe. can anyone advice or shed any light? I've heard people getting this privately but also heard people getting it on nhs too. why the hell are GPS prescribi g high risk meds like Yasmin and not these bioidentical ones?!! iam so confused now what to do coz I don't wanna keep going from one pill to another without knowing what my body really lacks for which I suspect is more of the eastrogen. it's like the GP is just playing guessing games when she says just keep trying different ones till there is one that suits you!

Hey

I was on yasmin for years ( prob about 9or10) as i have pcos and that pill is good for that.

I had no problem whatsoever, i think it took me a while for it to settle in but when it did it was best pill i been on.

So mayb give it bit of time.

I only came off coz i started to get headaches but that was because i had been on microgynon for 12 years then yasmin for 9 - 10 and it was about time i had a break.

Im now on nothing but i think im kinda getting to age im gona start go through change anyway ( im 45)

hi

Thanks for your reply here. well that's good to know coz Iam freaking out about strokes and blood clots! even though Iam healthy it's just a lot of websites seem to be putting people off with all these horror stories! but I mean if you have been on it that long with no side effects it sounds pretty hopeful. still gonna investigate these bioidentical hormones though as they are apparently non synthetic and supposed to be better for your body. suggest you look into it too when you feel your at perimenopause.
