I got the marina coil fitted 4 years ago. Recently in the last 2 months my periods have come back. I went to my doctor she said it is nothing to worry about. I am not initially satisfied with her response. She gave me no reason. I feel I am no wise.

Marina coil
Hi, a lot of women have periods while on the coil. In some it is lighter than before. Plus it takes 6 months for things to settle after it is inserted. I was recommended to give it at least 6 months and asses then whether it was better than before insertion.
Good luck.
Hi,
Does it need changing? I was told by a dr a few weeks ago it needs changing at 3 years not 5 as stated previously to me.
I would agree that the Dr should be considering if it needs changing. Also, during the years I had mine in (taken out post-menopause, and no problems since, endo or otherwise) I had two bouts of having some breakthrough bleeding, and both times my GPs sent me for ultrasound scans to check that all was fine with the ovaries and uterus. Just because we have endo doesn't mean that it is the cause of everything gynae. I was fine, but I would ask to see another Dr/GP and ask to be properly assessed. It doesn't mean anything scary, in my practice this was just routine checking.
Hope this helps, take care.
