I'm a week post-op and was doing really well till I caught a cold
The stitches on my belly button keep pulling everytime I sneeze so now they just keep bleeding. I've changed my dressing a few times for this incision and it just keeps bleeding. (My second incision is already looking healed as I was able to uncover that 2 days ago...)
I've applied some antiseptic to it to try and reduce the bleeding but it's pretty gross and when I wake up in the morning, there's usually quite a bit of blood on the dressing and dry blood on my skin.
Should I contact a doctor? Or is this normal? Should I just wait to see what it's like once my cold has gone?
Thanks x

They may not be able to actively do anything but could take the stitches out and glue it together. If it keeps bleeding that could increase the risk of infection and considering you have a cold your immune system is already a bit weaker.
I swear by colloidal silver (can get it from amazon) as a gel or spray for it's antibiotic properties as it has just the ingredients it needs without any of the other moisturising stuff from other gels (that actually don't help closing wounds). It doesn't sting either!
I'm currently just using Superdrug Cetrimide Antiseptic for now and keeping myself dosed up with ibuprofen and paracetemols.
I'm slightly scared of my doctor because he's always been quite pointless. I'm going to try and keep it clean but if it's still bleeding by Thursday, I may need to go pay my gp a visit.
Ahh just googled it, yeah I wouldn't use it, the alcohol in it won't help healing that just kills bugs; basically alcohol gel with oil / wax (paraffin - same as kerosene but in solid form). It also can't be used long term probably due to the above.
You need something that works with your body and can be used as much as you want and as long as you want; colloidal silver is natural which is why it won't be in normal pharmacies, you'll need to get it from a health shop, it works with your body and can be used for all skin problems.
Sorry I'm all for medicines but I like to know what I'm using!
You can ask to see a different doctor. See if you have an out of hours gp / walk in center they may be able to see you sooner than booking an appointment with your doctors surgery.
I bought some colloidal silver so will give that a try! Thanks gr8 your suggestion
In my gp surgery, you have to queue in the morning before opening to be seen by a doctor or have an emergency appointment on a Friday and the alternate doctor to mine is even worse lol if I need to see my doctors more in the future I'm likely to move practice for better care. X
