Anyone experience a feeling of being overwhelmed and a bit low after the laparoscopy? I had mine last Wednesday & had endo removed from my left ovary & been a long journey to get this far. My family and friends have been amazingly supportive but I feel a bit lonely/down. Is this normal?

I felt really lonely and down after mine, I think it’s an after effect of operations! I needed friends and family. It went away with time, going back to work helped x

Rather common to feel depressed after surgery, it does tend to go away after some time but if it doesn't and you find it getting worse then please see your gp. x
I felt the same it hit me about 4 days after lap when my head was clearer. Personally i thought i had endo for years abd when it hit me i got it i cant believe it. Now i feel like i can do anything like superwomen. If the feeling lasts a few more days go and see your gp your body has been though some stress and make most of recovery and pamper yourseld when possible x
It's completely normal! I felt really rubbish after I had mine - I cried because I couldn't make my bed and then I cried because I didn't like the food my wonderful family had cooked for me... I think it's the anaesthetic, it can make you feel really rubbish for ages - A friend of mine had surgery at the same time and we were both horribly emotional for about a week or so after xx Keep your friends and family close and keep your chin up, you'll feel better soon xx
I can very much relate to this and i also had endo removed from my left ovary too! ☝i had my lap nearly 3 weeks ago and i also thought i had endo but there was still a part of me that thought i wouldnt as so many doctors just brushed off my symptoms until i managed to get a referal to gyne with this one lovely doctor who actualy listened to me! After my lap right from when i woke up until about 2 weeks later i was very tearful and feeling down but i think it gets better with time its a big thing to go through i think mine was more that i couldnt really believe i had an answer after all this time and also just all of the symptoms you get after the op bloating/pain etc. I hope you too feel better with time and if you do still feel down there is always someone to talk to dont feel like you are all alone it helps to talk and just remember how strong you are for getting to this point ☺ xxx

Hello zedebe, I can very much relate to this too! It’s “good”to know others have felt the same, like you, I have felt lonely and down on and off since having my surgery 5 weeks ago. It hit me more after two weeks and to be honest I’ve had days (like today!!) where I’ve just cried for what I feel no reason! I am returning to work after Easter but went in today for a few hours but have been feeling low and tearful since coming home!! Hopefully we will all feel better in time. I think my upset is the not knowing if it when the beast may return. I know that sounds negative and I am sorry!! Hopefully those concerns will reduce soon! I just can’t bear the thought of going through it all again should the need arise! I had bowel ovaries and bladder unstuck but my worst issue was temporary stents from kidneys to bladder! Yuck! Yes it is so reassuring to hear it isn’t just me as usually I’m quite a happy person and I’m getting married in May so have so much to look forward to but like you it’s prob the thought of it coming back and all a bit overwhelming! Wishing you all the best with your recovery too! Take care xx
