Hi there I wonder if anyone else has experienced headaches after having first injections of Zoladex and taking 2.5mg of HRT Tbolone please.
I had my first injection a week ago along with the HRT and for 5 days now I have had really bad headaches. I am taking painkillers throughout the day/evening and night but the pain is still with me. I have another 2 more injections to go but I cant go on like this??
I never have headaches so this is definitely the Zoladex causing them.

I haven’t had headaches, but am on the same medications as you with HRT too. I’m now on to my second injection, approaching the third. I generally only used to suffer cyclical related headaches so haven’t experienced one. Side effects wise I’ve noticed some hair thinning (possibly the most depressing one) and a few night sweats and hot flushes. I was pretty much hitting rock bottom with symptom problems pre-treatment so I’m trying to look on the positive side and that I’m not requiring an arsenal of drugs to make it through the day. I’d speak to whoever prescribed them for you, and see what they suggest. X
Yes, I have; it was hormonal. Zoladex causes an initial hormone flare before it shuts you down, so there is no need to take HRT for the first few weeks as you are in fact producing more sex hormones than you would be without Zoladex! I stopped the HRT on my GP’s advice, and started to take it again 2-3 weeks later.
Just as a side note - unfortunately most pain killers if used for more than a day or two actually make headaches worse. For example one of the side effect of paracetamol if taken consistently for a days can be a headache in some people so it’s a vicious cycle.
I don’t know if your circumstances allow it, but if you can, ride it out for 24-48hours or as long as you can, drink a crap load of water etc and avoid foods that may trigger headaches and if you need to spend the day sleeping in bed you might find you start to get some relief and break the painkiller/headache cycle after a day or two.
Hope you find some relief from them soon if you haven’t already xx
