I recently turned 46 and have been suffering with Endometriosis since I was 19, was diagnosed about 21. Been fobbed off with the usual IBS medication but have had maybe 5 laps over the years, a bit of burning off but my womb is attached to my bowel so they didn’t want to carry on! Luckily I do have a daughter who will be 21 this year but I am very lucky to have her! I have had 3 courses or zoladex injections but they stopped working, had numerous pills, and the coil fitted!! Eventually I had an ablation! This worked for about 2 years!! But unfortunately my pain & bleeding is back!! I really suffer with my bowel when going to the loo!! I have pain daily and have become so used to it that sometimes I can’t tell if it’s back or stomach pain! However, I’ve told you my full story as now I’m eventually on the list for a hysterectomy!! Hopefully by lap and then I’ll be going through the menopause!! I can’t wait for this operation!! It’s been years of trying but basically I’m just telling you all not to give up!! Keep going to the doctors, ask for referrals and insist they do something!! Good luck everyone 😊

Sounds like you're making the right decision. Just an additional note; for the hysterectomy via lap ask if they can remove any additional endo they find (hysterectomy wont cure it but removal of all they find will help), and ask for a bowel surgeon to be present for the endo on there (they need to be for any bowel related op).
Yes the bowel surgeon will be there, they did mention that. She did also say that they would be removing as much endometriosis as possible! I never take time off work but this morning I was in really bad pain, I nearly called in sick. Wish they would just hurry up with a date!! Thank you for your advice. 😊
Hi we are going through similar things. I am 46, have a 6 year old and having hysterectomy,ovaries/tubes/cervix and endo removed. Told 40% chance of waking up with a bag (at least not 50/50 or worse!).
Handed notice in last week as just getting too much and painkillers mess with my thinking- better to take a break than screw up so will have restart work/career post op.
Have you got a op date yet? I was told 7/8 months wait time (July/Aug) but was told last week I can have a date in May. Such a relief, just need to get blood pressure down to a reasonable level!
Hi, yeah I know what you mean regarding work etc, I’m very lucky to work for a small family company who are fantastic and will let me work from home if I need to. I have been given a date if 25th June so hopefully will all be gone soon! Hopefully without a bag and with lap and not a big scar to deal with. I struggle with Bowel pain more than anything it’s awful. I hope you get sorted soon and stay in touch so we all know how you are. Good luck with it all 😊
I saw a pain specialist week or so ago who suggested going gluten free to reduce inflammation. Have tried it so far as the endo diet suggests similar, not seen any difference as yet but want to give my bowel best chance possible, want to wake up bag free!
