So after gearing myself up for 6 weeks for my radical hysterectomy on the 1st March and getting to the hospital through the snow, an hour before my surgery and sat in their reception waiting for my room my operation was cancelled. I am embarrassed to say i had a total meltdown and was in tears but totally understand why they needed to cancel the operation and luckily i saw my consultant and got it rearranged there an then for 8th March. So I am now replaying getting ready for the surgery which I am finding quite hard and feel really low, has anyone else felt like this?

Big hugs xx Lucky you got a new date not long away. I empathize it is really hard psyching yourself up before an op. Especially such a radical one.
Have you been able to talk to anyone a counsellor about how you are feeling? You are making a big life changing step and it does have an emotional impact that you need to allow the space to be expressed.
I really do understand ..... I was gowned up and ready to go to theatre when I had an op cancelled.... and in my case it was for urgent breast surgery as abnormal cells had been found on earlier tests, so I was really distressed. Just remember that the decision was presumably made for your well being and safety. A hysterectomy is an emotional op anyway.... I haven’t had that op, but I have had both ovaries and tubes removed, so understand the emotional issues. Take the unexpected time to prepare yourself even more for post op.... if you’re not working, cook some delicious meals for the freezer.... download some good things to watch on iPad or similar, buy yourself some earplugs and eyemask for the ward if you’ve not already done so... you’ll need them! Best of luck xxx
