The waiting game is killing me...

Hey! So I’m new to this.. need some advice!

Quite a long story but please be patient with me.

So last August (2016) I was getting quite bad cramps to one side of my stomach, followed by no period for 3 months! All the symptoms you could imagine of being pregnant aswell... anyway after a few negative pregnancy tests I went to my doctor & told him what was going on, he suggested I do a blood pregnancy test- that also came back negative. He then said I should go & do an ultrasound, finally the date of my ultrasound came & due to not being able to hold in the 1ltr bottle of water I have to do a transvaginal scan which hurt sooo bad, the lady said she could see a small cyst (1.5cm) on my left ovary and a small one on my right but this one looks as though it’s one which comes with the normal cycle and goes away on its own, the left one they want to watch to see if it goes away. She said she doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about. My period came back like clockwork & has been for the last 4 months no cramping or Endo signs at all. My second ultrasound was 2 weeks ago, the First Lady came in and done the normal scan (external as I was able to hold down the 1ltr water this time lol) and she found my right ovary with ease and said there’s nothing on it, it’s all clear no cysts, she then struggled to locate the left (I think because my bladder was still absorbing all of the water) however after a few minutes she found it & after a bit of prodding said that the left cyst that they were concerned about has also gone so that’s great news but she said she’s popping out of the room quickly. I’ve turnt to my partner who gave me a kiss & said I told you you would be fine, laughing & smiling...

About a minute later she returns with a colleague and within about 5 minutes I went from laughter to tears.

She basically came in & said the complete opposite of what her colleague had said to me... she took up the instrument & pressed so hard on my stomach and was doing “doctor talk” with the original lady who scanned me, all I could hear was “you see it’s there” bla bla bla. So I said excuse me what’s going on? She said I’ll get to you in a second.

She then paused and asked me the reason for my original ultrasound and I told her “didn’t get a period last year for 3 months, quite bad pain at the time but since then no pain whatsoever and we thought I might be pregnant.

She says “ well from what I can see there’s an endometrioma cyst on your left ovary and it has grown a little more since the last time now at 2.5 cm and there’s a tiny one on your right... My heart dropped.... how can your colleague come in & say the complete opposite then?? I pushed her hand off my stomach sat up & was crying my eyes out... all that was going through my head was “infertility infertility infertility” me and my partner have been having unprotected sex now for around 6 months... so maybe that could be why I haven’t gotten pregnant?

After that external this new lady said she thinks I should do an internal to get a more accurate understanding of what’s going on. The original lady was just standing next to her with a frown on her face and a guilty look... after doing the internal she said she found the cysts but was confused as to how I am literally a symptomatic bar a little pain during my periods... I now have a refferal to the GYN but not sure when that will be... until then I have to wait, I already suffer with anxiety & now 4 days late for my period, I am an emotional wreck and don’t know who to turn to... please help :(

Oh I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through. I think it's better that she seek her colleague help to get an accurate finding in your scan. Had she not you won't get a referral to a gynaecologist. Don't be an emotional wreck be Strong and be Brave face your situation with courage .

Be patient your appointment will come.

Goodluck and all the best in your future .

Thank you Arlene48 for your kind words, Do you know if Endo can be the cause of late periods? Because I’m late again this month but haven’t been late since last year August & that’s when I had the sharp pains & I believe the cysts formed. This time is different tho as I’m completely pain free, just my period is late, sore breasts moody as hell its like I’m on with no blood?

Thank you xx

Hi

After my ultrasound scan the results went to my GP who discussed the results and referred to the hospital, it would be worth making an appointment with the GP who will discuss and confirm the referral and maybe answer some questions that you have x

Hi Sharin57, sorry I forgot to mention I did go to the GP after (tried to cut it short as I was going on for quite a while haha) he said that he finds it strange that one lady told me one thing & the other the next , In total I’ve had 3 people scan me all telling me different things, so he put me into the refferal for the GYN himself, he said as I’m asymptomatic he won’t put me in for an emergency appointment just a normal GYN refferal xx

I think mine was urgent due to size and the results, but she did say I don’t think it will be Endo! And they found stage 3!!
