Hi, I recently been fitted with a mirena coil and it was absolutely fine but it is making my endo pain worse. Did anyone else have any similar problems and did it settle down after a while? Thank you xx
Mirena coil: Hi, I recently been fitted... - Endometriosis UK
Mirena coil
Hi hun I had the same coil fitted in December last year and the pain got worse and worse. My advice would be to monitor it and only put up with as much as you can handle pain wise. I was throwing up and passing out in pain but was told by my gp it would settle down. Three and a half weeks after waiting and praying for it to settle down I ended up rushed into hospital with a raised heart rate as my body was trying to reject it! I have never felt pain like it.....not even when I had a tennis ball sized cyst removed from my ovary 4 years ago! As much as you need to give it chance to settle down don't be fobbed off if you can't handle the pain! Any other questions about it that I may be able to help with please ask! Xx
Thank you lovely! When they fitted it I didn’t feel it at all and was fine after then an hour later I was throwing up and had the sweats (not sure if that’s normal) then the cramps stopped then they started again and not stopped and I’m feeling sick, dizzy, hot like I’m going to faint! I’m just worried because my body rejects piercings anyway and I’m worried that’s what it’s doing xxx
Hi, have you got a temperature? It’s certainly normal to get some cramps but I don’t like the sound of the hot feeling.
It’s possible to pick up internal infections when a coil is fitted so it would be wise to see a doctor.
I would agree with Fabbird and deffo get an appointment with your gp as a temperature/sweating is not what I would call a 'normal symptom' and remember if the pain gets too bad to ring 111 for advice. They were very thorough and extremely helpful when I needed them in the middle of the night! Good luck and keep us posted! I have a pre op assessment tomorrow for next lot of treatment/surgery xxx
Yeah I will, I’ve emailed my Endo nurse, I wonder if it could be because I still have the implant in as well! I will do thank you for your advice!
Aww good luck hope everything goes well for you tomorrow xxx
Hi Brittany,
So sorry to hear about the pain you going through. I have merina IUD. It’s been almost 5 years now. I am just shocked as to how you are going through, but for me it’s been better. Each body reacts differently I suppose. You could try endovan from Komodo pharmaceuticals. You can read about it online. I had that for three 4vyears but since the iud I stopped taking it because IUD was working fine for me.
At the doctors now to be examined, hopefully find out what’s happening xx
