Hi I recently underwent myomectomy about 10 dats earlier. I was given an IV during surgery which was removed after one day. The cannula was inserted in a vein on my right wrist. After 10 days ie since yest my right upper arm is suddenly and totally swollen and painful. The site of canula is only mildly painful. What could be the reason for this?

Hi, my partner had the same after an operation he was told it was infection and took antibiotics so don't worry just go to doctor soon as you are able to and they will have a look at it. Hope this helps. Kelly

Sounds like you have cellulitis which is inflammation of the tissues. If it’s red & hot your infected. Don’t panic just see gp and it will settle on antibiotics.

Best wishes
