Hi everyone! I’m still new to this. I am 22 and was diagnosed with endometrosis last year, after suffering with lower abdo pain, heavy periods, although regular every month, and sometimes spotting in between periods. I saw a regular gyne and had an emergency transvaginal scan and they after that I saw a gyne and she told me it is most likely endometrosis, but I don’t know what to think as I have read lots of stories people saying they cannot tell unless you have surgery which I have not had. I recently had another scan and they said that the cyst on the right which I think is endometrioma has stayed the same size. I also have one on the left ovary small in size too she said. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow for a follow up what sort of questions should I ask I feel like I’m being told lots of different stories. Thank you all x

I'm sorry you've been suffering. It is true that the only way to get a true diagnosis is via a lapoaoscopy surgery. Is it your gynecologist that your seeing tomorrow?

Discuss surgery but also be prepared for them to suggest treatment without surgery. For example bc pill, the coil etc. It's a personal choice whether to have surgery but it's always good to know what's going on exactly and then treatment can be adapted. Particularly if they've identified cysts.

Ask about treatment options, the doctors experience with endometriosis and discuss the benefit of removing the cysts as well maybe?

It's so difficult because there's so much information out there try and do a bit of research yourself before tomorrow? Lots of luck I hope the appointment is positive and you can get this sorted x

Hi. Thank you for replying. No I am seeing my GP tomorrow.

I have seen a gyne already October 2017 and she said my scans etc don’t seem to be bad, she done an internal examination and said everything else feels normal. She discharged me, I spoke to her about my fertility - I have been trying for a year without success and she said I would need to go back to my GP.

I went back to my GP I’ve had an internal scan and blood tests which is what I have to go back for tomorrow. So again I will have to ask to be refered back to gyne department. X

Oh i see. Yeah I think that's a good idea. If it is endometriosis it more often than not won't be picked up on a scan. All my scans have come back normal but endo was found during surgery.

You could always ask to be referred to a different gynecologist/hospital/department. I went through several gynecologists before I got my diagnosis. Best of luck
