Hi! I had my lap last monday, 12 days ago, everything is fine except my dissolvable stitches who start to cut my skin and go inside. I went twice to see a nurse and they refuse to take them out. It's normal path of healing?

sometimes dissolvable stitches take a few months to dissolve, best thing you can do is stop fiddling with them or touching them because they will irritate the surrounding areas and up the risk of infection, keep them clean and dry, and watch out for any signs of infection (weeping, oozing etc) because you may need antibiotics,

If they get uncomfortable, especially at night, or tug on the duvet, go to boots and get some cheap dressings, but leave it uncovered during the day x

now i apply one cream, Fusidic acid. The nurse prescribed to me on my last visit but i can't see any improvement. more than that now every movement is so painfull because my stitch went totally inside my skin... 😣😔

I had my lap three weeks ago and I still have stitches that show no signs of dissolving. Apparently they do sometimes take ages as someone else said. I am finding bathing my belly button in warm salt water is helping - I was using lots of antiseptic cream but I think it actually made it a bit worse because it needs to be kept dry. Belly buttons can take a long time to heal because of their shape and the trauma of surgery - it may be sore, a bit smelly etc. Having said that obviously go back to the doctors if it doesn't improve or gets worse :)
