Hi, so ive been confirmed to have stage 1 endometriosis and im in alot of pain all the time and needing codeine and tramadol every few hours. I do have the mirena coil but it has only been in for 2 months now so has not settled the bleeding yet. I have heard some people talking about zoladex does anyone know if I can use it in addition to the coil? Also can anyone please share their experiences with zoladex as I do not know much about it. Thank you x

I’ve had both, I’m stage 5 endo. There very different drugs the coil tricks your body into early pregnancy but can take over 3 months to ease bleeding & pain. I found the coil took a few months to settle & I was fairly pain free with NO bleeding. I stopped it as I became VERY anxious & depressed on it. Zoladex however is a monthly injection that shuts your ovaries down & sends you into menopause. It’s a full on drug!! You can only have Zoladex for 6 months in theory & I've just started my second round but with hrt as I struggled with the side effects of going into the menopause. Most of the time they say you get months to several years pain free after the 6 months. My first round I only did 4 months as I was struggling with side effects & I had my first period 5 weeks later & pain +++. I’m on it this time in preparation for full surgery in 6 months & also to see if I can cope with hrt!! My track record with hormones is not good.

I personally would say stick at it with the coil as it’s long term & side effects are minimal in comparison to zoladex. You can’t have them both together as far as I know. Give the coil another 2 months & if your struggling see your specialist.

Good luck
