Hey all,
Just been for a pelvic ultrasound scan (external and internal) and all seems OK apparently. What’s the next step in diagnosing endo?
Feeling really overwhelmed and lost atm just need some light at the end of the tunnel.

Hey sorry your having hard time. I also had scans that only showed a poylp. I asked the doctor for a referral for gynaecological . I met with surgeon who said my symptoms sounded like endometriosis . So I am booked in for laparoscopy surgery to see if there is any and he will l treat it at the same time. Also having hysteroscopy to remove polyp on the 8 the of feb. Xxx
Thanks for the reply Amy. I have another appt with gynae on the 30th who has previously told me she thinks it’s endo. Should I request a laparoscopy as ultrasounds have come back clear? Is this is the next route xx
Well that's good your seeing someone. The surgeon was the one who requested it but yes no harm in asking xx good luck
Has your scan been done by an endo expert from a BSGE centre? If not, then it’s almost normal he would miss anything! I had three scans by a normal sonographer who said I had nothing except maybe something in the bladder. Long story short, I then had one scan with an expert, it took her 3seconds to diagnose me with a cyst, adenomyosis, a polyp, and a 5-cm nodule that is piercing my bladder (2inside, 3outside)! ........
Wow! No just a general sonographer in radiology at my local hospital. She’s told me to make another appointment with my GP in a week but generally didn’t even know why I was there and thought it was just a general checkup. At a loss of what to do now.
How did you get the scan with the expert? I've only ever been scanned by a 'normal' radiographer.
I was referred to bsge centre first and thats the first step they do when they plan for the lap, they need a proper scan to assess how your pelvic area looks, so when the surgeon goes in, he knows if thebuterus is retroverted or if there are any obvious nodules etc. at whippsX where I am, that scan is made by an expert in endo! I have her name somewhere if u want it, DM me 💪
Oh no that’s so tedious! I’m praying they don’t fob me off now the ultrasound is clear - my pain is just worsening and I know something is wrong I just want to get to the bottom of it ☹️ x
Yeah I 100% agree with you! Luckily for me on my first appointment with a gynae she did an internal examination and suggested endo to me if all other conditions were ruled out so I’ve had the time to read up on it and I haven’t come across anything that my symptoms line up with so accurately. I’ve convinced myself it’s got to be this so I’ll keep pushing until I get somewhere! X
Well a holes made through your tummy to see and take samples. Painkillers are the best way forward. There are several treatment s that don't involve drugs for Endo. Unfortunately they have to diagnose and sometimes Endo can be almost invisible. It could be other illnesses. Are you young? The pill can help with the suffering of you can take it. Which I couldn't. I have a serious type of the disease which effects my whole body. The positive thing I can say is you might be in pain but you have no serious adhesion or internal body distortion. Which is a good sign. Let's hope you have a different problem. My best wishes Joy x
Yes I’m aware of the laparoscopy procedure. I’m already prescribed 30mg codiene which don’t really help and don’t affect the spasms and cramps. There’s also a lot of nausea and digestive problems associated with the problem which is why my gynae told me it was endo, and why painkillers don’t really help me unfortunately! I’ve been on the depo injection for 2 years and still having severe pain and issues, need to get to the bottom of it x
Belladona and Fennel Tea will help with spasms and pain from health shop. Antihasimine may also help with inflammation Your diet also may help. No soya as it has a estrogen effect or yeast, gluten perhaps. Fibre is important but only the soluble type. Have a look at soluble fibre diets and histamines in foods online
