So, I was in hospital with suspected appendicitis, they did a transvaginal ultrasound which showed a 4cm cyst but my appendix was fine.
I stayed in hospital overnight as they thought I had an infection and was put on an antibiotic drip, the question is the dr that carried out my transvaginal the next day said the cyst had burst and asked if I had ever been diagnosed with IBS which I’ve not. What could he of seen which could of made him think that I may suffer from IBS? Has anyone had any diagnosis from a transvaginal ultrasound?

I had a transvaginal ultrasound - they didn't find any endo, although it was later found through a laparoscopy. They said that my ovaries look polycystic, but they also said that could be because of the pill I'm on - not the clearest! I have IBS symptons, but I think mine come from having lesions on my Pouch of Douglas.
I actually thought ibs cant really be diagnosed through any scan or op I've heard its basically what they diagnose you with when you are having stomach problems and dont have crohns etc 🤔
That’s what I thought so it would be interesting to know what he saw when he was doing the scan as I’ve read you can’t see any of the bowels etc on a transvaginal ultrasound
Hi, I suspect it wasn’t anything he saw on the scan. It’s not possible to see IBS - it’s diagnosed on the basis of a set of symptoms.
Perhaps he was just thinking about your symptoms and wondering out loud about possible causes. As many of us know, abdominal pain is usually attributed to IBS before any investigations are done.
I did think that, after some research there is no way he could of seen anything to do with IBS. Was a bit random and has just always played on my mind to what he thought he saw
I had appendicitis for a long time that was missed, along with cysts, and was told I just had ibs even though my WBC was raised.
