Since my lap I've had no trouble with my stitches, was told they could be left to dissolve, but now the nurse says she wants them out. The lower 2 are fine but the bellybutton is still very sore and lots of congealed blood stuck under the stitch. Is it going to hurt, I'm a real wimp with this stuff. Is it worth taking someone with me to hold my hand, and should I soak the bellybutton one first to try and get rid of the blood?

Stitches out
You shouldn't feel anything, but if you do then it'll feel like a gentle tug. You'll find most of the stitching has kinda dissolved under the skin so they'll be pretty easy to remove, unlike the stitching I had removed inside my nose -.-
I had to have mine removed and I didn’t even feel it, I thought the tummy button one would kill and I was gritting my teeth, holding onto my mums hands, unable to look, absolutely cacking my pants and when I asked if she’d done it yet, she was removing her gloves and had even put a dressing on it all without me noticing! I’d hyped it up way too much thinking it would kill and turns out it was over so quick I didn’t even realise!
Good luck hun. Take someone if you want to, sometimes it’s nice to have some moral support, but don’t stress about it, you’ll be fine! Might be worth asking your nurse if she can use some sterile saline and soak it before hand to clean the area and remove the dried blood if you’re really worried, she’ll clean it anyway after just to make sure it’s clean x
I also had to have some of my stitches removed some from belly button as they didn’t dissolve- and I was scared of it hurting but I didn’t feel a thing. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Good luck xoxo
