I had a lap on 22nd Aug with endo and bowel specialist, removed three cysts and excised a lot but couldn't remove from bowel. I paid privately for this as waitlist was 14 months on NHS and we were looking to do ivf afterwards and couldn't be put on ivf waitlist until after op.
After the op, I received three invoices from the hospital, the anaesthetist, and bowel surgeon which amounted to what we were quoted. The hospital advised all invoices would be sent out within two weeks, the three above arrived separately over about 3 weeks post op. However, today, almost 3 months later, I've received another invoice for professional fees. I'm going to call on Monday to query but has anyone else paid privately and had endless bills? Wondering if I need to get something in writing.

This is pretty standard, the hospital charges you for the care you have as well as each of the consultants and anaesthetist but they are all separate entities so billing is bitty and confusing.
Yes, it is quite confusing. My main worry is when will the bills stop as we paid all 3 invoices when they came in and thought that was that esp as they amounted to what we were quoted. Was caught out yesterday when we received a fourth bill 3 months on unexpectedly for a considerable sum. Frustrating that when going private, you don't get a set figure that you can plan for & pay upfront but I guess that's private healthcare for you.
