Anti depressants and painkillers?

For a long time now I have been telling my gp that I don’t want to go on anti depressants as I am not depressed. The pain gets me down but when on painkillers I get out of bed and have a laugh with my family and try to be “my normal self”.

But my gp won’t take my investigations any further till I see a councillor and have anti depressants. I am having a private laparoscopy the beginning of November with my specialist.

The big question is, is it safe for me to have my painkillers while on anti depressants? I am currently on Codine and paracetamols and oromorph rarely when the pain increases to when I am in floods of tears due to pain.

So can I carry on with the painkillers? X
