Mirina coil - agony!

Hi girls

Please someone help!!

I have had the marina coil put in last Wednesday I was on my period at the same time. I've been taking paracetamol, ibruprofen and codiene. Nothing is touching it. Even the hot water bottle 😓 which usually saves my life !!

Does anyone else have any pain relief advice 😓 I can't carry on like this Im back at work in 2 days !

hello! It's probably your body reacting to a foreign object being there! My pain lasted about 2 weeks and then settled down, however if you are really really in pain i would go get it checked just because of the risk of uterus perforation (it is very very rare but it's better to be safe than sorry!). I got mine checked for that exact reason a week after getting it fitted and the lady at the family planning clinic was lovely and understanding and managed to reassure me lots!

Hiya maloushkapat,

I got an appointment with a doctor (who wasn't my usual dr/) advised me to go to the hospital, everything was checked and it quite normal, the gynecologist explained that its my uterus spasming to attempt to expell the coil.

The offered to take it off but chose against that, I haven't got that far for me to end up back at square one!! I am in alot of pain majority of the day, uped my codiene to 60mg 4x a day. Aswell with paracetamol and ibuprofen. I'm so drained with it, I feel like all i do is moan about it at the moment. Its horrible. But I know that this hopefully will start to help the endometriosis pain, fingers crossed 🤞🤞
