Pain because of the coil

I have had the mirena coil in now for 5 weeks, I have been in pain and on my period for the whole time. It started to lighten a bit but the past week I have been heavily bleeding and for the past 4 days I've woken up crying because of the cramps and getting so frustrated. I have a 6 week check up this Thursday with a nurse but the last time I went to the doctors about 2 weeks ago they gave me Naproxens and said to wait a couple more months. I cannot physically put myself through all these painkillers and cramps for another couple of months, my job as a waitress and me going to college it September, it isn't fair and I don't know what to do.

Hi lovely, really sorry to hear how bad you are feeling. I was exactly the same for the first 3 months, I would roll round on the floor screaming in sheer agony whilst my mum panicked & begged me to let her call an ambulance. I bled every single day none stop from getting it put in at the beginning of Feb 2015, I was going to Florida at the end of May & got tablets to stop the bleeding whilst I was away etc. ... the day before we went it all stopped on it's own! After this I would bleed for a couple of days every few months but the pain was NOTHING like before. I'm currently having Prostap injections but before this, I would say that the coil is the best contraception/relief I've had from the Endo pain and if you can, try to bear with it for a few months at least. thank you! its so nice to hear the pain is not just all in my head, my mums being as supportive as she can but she can't understand and its hard to explain to her.. the Naproxens are starting to lighten it theyre just making me dazed and its hard to get used to as ive never had any strong painkilers before my lap apart from mefenamic acid which never really worked for me.. i also dont like the waiting but as its the best option i have i am willing to wait it out!! thank you xxx
