Is it common to have cysts on the ovaries? If so can you live with them or do all cysts need to be removed?
Can they become dangerous?

I have PCOS and I live with them.
They're only dangerous if they start hurting your ovaries. They become uncomfortable. Sometimes they can cause ovarian torsion. But I've had cysts for many years and nothing dangerous has happened. Most tend to go away on their own or just stay put. It sucks if they burst as it hurts.
If you have them and are concerned definitely talk to your doctor about it! They may be able to put your mind at ease depending on your situation x
It depends on the type of cyst. They are generally classed into complex and simple cysts. Simple cysts generally are filled with fluid and are common with PCOS. Complex cysts can be filled with blood and solid material. I had a 10cm complex cyst on my left ovary and had to have a laparoscopy to remove it and they found another cyst on my right ovary. Both cysts turned out to be endometriomas/chocolate cysts and I was diagnosed with stage 4 Endo. If complex cysts rupture it can cause a lot of pain and possible emergency surgery. I would ask your doctor if it is a complex or simple cyst as that would probably give you a better idea of whether it needs to be removed. Hope this helps Xx Edwina
