I'm 50, 51 in Sept.I hav e had painful periods since age 11 and pain on ovulation soem months.I hav e had slicing backache low down in a line below teh small of my back since Sept last year. For the last 5 and a half weeks, whenever I lie on my right side there is a pulling heavy weight dragging feeling on my left near my left side and left hip and just above my left hip.I have had irregu;ar periods teh last 2 years due to my menopause starting.I have had clots many tim4s with my periods and period pain with no blood soem months when my period s is not due due.Today I have awful backache like period pain in my low back even tho my period isnt due yet.I am very worried about this dragging heavy feeling when I lie on my right.I have been diagnosed a few years ago IBS and have had terrible bloating after many meals about teh last yr.The doc did blood tests and found a UTI so I had antibiotics for 5 days which ended saturday.I hav e had bad diarrhoea 4 days since last thursday. They did an ultrasound and said my kidneys etc look all ok.I had blood in my urine yesterday but they havent done anything about it(I havent got a period at the moment) I feel tired often and teh bloating is getting me down.I aske d teh nurse today if it was endrometriosis and she said I am too old (50) I told her I have had spotting betw peirods a lot in teh past and am sure I have had spotting from my anus during periods b4.I mentioned this each tiem to doctors and tehy said are u sure its from your anus?making me doubt myself. My mother had an ovarian cyst and I think endometriosis in her 40s.What do u all think pls?Have any of u had dragging pulling in your large bowel near hip on left when u lie on teh right and terrible bloating pls?As soon as I eat now it seems to go all full of air by this area on teh left where teh dragging comes from. Thanks very much

Hi, I'm 50 and it all sounds rather similar. I can't sleep on my left side due to a dragging which then becomes pain. I also sometimes get it in my hip, which I've always assumed is referred pain.

Endo seems to flare up during the menopause so maybe that is what is happening to you...

I have never been diagnosed with endo bec they kept saying are u sure u r bleding from your anus making me doubt. What symptoms have u got?It was liek labour pains in my back this evening and a bout 2 months ago it did it and was so bad my daughter had to rush and put 2 icepacks on my low back. Thanks

I do get back pain, but it comes and goes with my cycle. It's that which makes me link it to endo.

It's hard to know whether the pain is due to endo in that spot, or is being referred from elsewhere. I've had a recent MRI so I know where the big patches of endo are. This means I tend to assume the back pain in referred.

It sounds like you need to see an endo specialist for some diagnostic investigations.

Yes, I was diagnosed in 2013 when I had a lap.

I have all ur symtoms and that dragging feeling and the mother of periods so it was alway suspected endo but then it was suggested ibs and i wouldnt accept it as ive never had problem belly wise apart from period.

Three month ago i ended up in hosp in agony

With lower left pain and dragging and they suspected endo so tues i had a laparoscopy and nothing!! No endo, ovarys are fine but i had decided that i needed to test the ibs and as soon as i cut out dairy gluten and yeast it all disapeared , all the bloating, gas, pain in side, periods werent even that bad so mayb they were right all along and it was ibs!

The symtoms are so similar so i would suggest before you go ahead with any surgery or anything drastic try the gluten dairy diet even if it just a month.

As im laying here after a op having to have two weeks off in pain and i didnt need it the surgery

Il try those vids thanks... well a laparscopy is not pleasant as any procedure is not! My belly is so bloated and swollen it hurts and the stictches pull and are sore especially the ones in my belly button. U are told not to do anything work or lift stuff for two weeks. I am only on day 4 now so im still just laying on sofa doin nothing.

All id say is eliminate the ibs first before u assume it endo aless u know it endo as i had no idea what it was. Dont get me wrong i have mental periods but aparently it coz my bloods to thick and clots not endo.

i get pain on my left, i was told its my bowel. but yes was never an issue till i had endo.

The dragging pain could be from adhesions between bowel and ovary and/or womb. If you have endometriosis it causes adhesions. The nurse was wrong to say you can't have endo at 50. I despair at the stuff they come out with at times!
