I've got suspected endometriosis and waiting for an appointment for a laparoscopy. I'm lucky that the pain is only a dull ache, although it is constant. I think that years of being on Depo injection has perhaps been masking the symptoms.
The thing I wanted to ask is - could the tiredness I feel be related. I've never known tiredness like it and I've got two kids so I know sleep deprivation (!). But this is different. I struggle to stay awake during a whole day. I joke that I'm the queen of the power nap to my kids but in reality I struggle to get through the day without one. Today I had a rare lie in and got up at 9am. By 3pm I was shattered. My eyes were trying to close while I was chatting with my mum over a cup of tea. I couldn't wait to close my eyes when she left, I ran upstairs and slept for an hour and half. If I had been able I would have slept longer. I felt like I wasn't even talking coherently I was so tired.
Is this endometriosis related? I read somewhere else that people feel even worse after a laparoscopy- more tired! And I was hoping that the laparoscopy and lasering would be the cure.
Any advice is appreciated

Hello, yep, I can cope with the pain, I can deal with the bleeding but I'm so exhausted-doesn't matter if I've had plenty of sleep then all I do for the rest of the day is breathe-it's too much! I'm afraid I have not found a help yet-let me know if you do!
Yes it is. Search "fatigue" or "exhaustion" and you will see streams of posts about it. In my experience it has gotten worse not better and is !Y most debilitating symptom, even though it's rarely mentioned in most official literature.
Just chatting it through with my dad and wondering if my periods might be causing iron deficiency. Does anyone think that could be something to consider
Hi iron is definitely worth checking as it is a common deficiency . You can ask your GP for a blood test to check. You need to aim for 14.8 mg of iron a day in your diet, but if you are iron deficient it can take a while to build levels up again, so supplements are helpful. When eating iron rich food try to get vitamin c (citrus, strawberries, veg) as this helps absorption. And avoid drinking tea with food as the tannins in it block iron absorption. Good endo friendly sources of iron are eggs (2 mg per 125 portion), tinned (pilchards 2.5 mg per 100)g and tinned butter beans 8mg per 100g. Raw spinach is actually not so good because although it's rich in iron it contains oxalic acid which isinterferes with iron absorption.
I was diagnosed with Endometriosis 5 years ago. I have had 2 laparoscopies and awaiting the third. I experience a lot of fatigue no matter how much I sleep I could sleep a little more. Through a blood test last year I was diagnosed with a B12 deficiency. I now have injections every 12 weeks to increase these levels. Although I am tired all the time still I find that I am more able to get through the day without a nap since the injections. Hope this helps
I am always exhausted too. I had some tests done and I was deficient in vitamin d , folic acid and ferritin . Maybe you could ask for a blood test to see if you have any deficiency .
But I do think exhaustion is part of endo . I am always exhausted .
I was diagnosed with endo over a year ago and suffered really bad fatigue. I've just recently been diagnosed with ME/CFS. I honestly feel it's linked to the endo. I'm in pain every day to one degree or another - like you say often a dull pain, but it's still pain. I think we often get used to it when it so regular.
