As my title says hello and help. I have long suspected that I could have endometriosis but have been fobbed off for years being told it's IBS. I have every pill, potion diet that should improve the symptoms but nothing worked. The only thing that did was being pregnant and breastfeeding. That made me realise that it might not be a GI problem at all. How do you get investigated and get your GP to take you seriously. Even my colonics lady doesn't think it's IBS!!! Thanks for reading. X

hey, Nothing more frustrating than when they say is it IBS. My male gp said it the other day even though I am diagnosed with endo and in so much pain. I said the difference between endo and gastro pain is so obvious.
You need a referral for a transvaginal scan. That will never show endo but it seems they make you have that and then a referral for a laparoscopy. Go to the gp and tell them you need that scan. Knowledge is power! Good luck xx
Hiya,
I feel your pain, I was told it was....
1. IBS
2. Ovarian cyst
3. Appendicitis
4. Trapped nerve (oh please!!!!)
5. Endo
Luckily I went to the doctors twice a week and pushed myself through the system quickly and ended up seeing a good GP too. I would go back and ask them why/how they have even managed to rule out endo and ask for a referral to gyne. Pregnancy helping it is a big tell tale sign here! Go through what you have done for the IBS, write down a symptom diary, how it feels/when its worse. Mine was very unpredictable although typically got worse around my period. Do you have pain during sex, using the loo, bloating, back pain, bleeding, any other endo symptoms? Take all the ammo you can and push for a referral!! And never be afraid to question their opinion (especially if they say its a trapped nerve lol!).
I had an ultrasound of the area and after that pushed for the laparoscopy to see what was going on. If you really think its endo, I'd do the same thing. Ultrasound can rule out cysts etc but won't spot endo xx
Wow, great replies! I'll try next week - again.
