Endo ablasion

Having suffered horrendously for over 15 years, I recenty had a laporoscopy and biopsy and have been booked in to have an endometrial ablasion - has anyone else had this? I'm frightened to death not only of having it done but then what if it doesn't work. Currently sitting here on day 14 of bleeding and pain.... I just want to feel normal 😰

I've had ablasions. Some have gone well, some not so well. More better than worse. Everyone is different. Hopefully it will work and your bleeding will ease. Medicine and doctors really have improved over the 27 years i have suffered for and if it doesn't work for you ( which i hope it does) there are next steps and other options. And as for feeling normal-so many women suffer from a variety of problems. I'm not sure what normal is. Best of luck to you x

I don't want worry you as have a friend who had ablation years ago and has been fine but will tell you my experience I had an ablation in Dec have been off work and in agony since I can only walk short distances and am taking tramadol that doesn't work , booked for a hysterectomy now . I have post ablation syndrome they say that 3% of women get after ablation. I had adenomyosis before ablation and some small fibroids. I did have pain but nothing like this .

My womb endometrium is 13mm on last scan which much be growth behind the ablation scarring as have no actual bleeding and have been told no cure for post ablation syndrome only hysterectomy and stomach getting more and more swollen and painful plus now one of my ovaries is very swollen and has a 3.5 cm cyst in now ????

I was told nothing about the post ablation syndrome before novasure ablation and it wasn't in the novasure leaflet I was given , all ops have risks though and everyone is different . but good to know it all before making a choice for you. 😄

I had an ablation about three years ago. The endometrial lining was nearly four times thicker than it should be. (Not sure what it should be). After the op I had bad period pain for a couple of days afterwards. Unfortunately it did not work for me. I was back to the extremely heavy periods two months after.

I'm sure it does work for people otherwise they wouldn't do the operation. I hope you are having a general anaesthetic for the procedure. Hope it works for you xx

Not at all. I just think the endometriosis grew back inside quickly. I would think about only having a local anaesthetic. They either insert red hot water or a metal thing and microwave your womb lining. Don't think I would want to be awake for that. I truly don't want to put you off because I'm sure it works well for a lot of people. I would just think about talking to whoever is doing the procedure about other options

I had this done 4 years ago its the worst thing I have ever done and wish with all my heart I didnt have it done the pain ive been in since has been terrible it has stopped the heavy bleeding but the pain is 10 times worse I never get a days peace from it where as before I had it done I did at least have a few days pain free after my period had stopped. Please do research on this before you go through with it I only found out after most women who have this done have to have hysterectomy shortly after and endo specialists say women with endo should not have the ablation any way please please do your research and think long and hard the gyno that did mine promised me it would clear everything up but he lied I even went private for him to mess me up look this dr up Mr. Trehan FRCS FRCOG is a specialist in the treatment of endometriosis hope everything works out for you xx

Hi

I had the nova sure ablation done in 2015 during a lap. I had no pain afterwards even though I had some excision at the same time. The ablation helped with heavy bleeding although it didn't stop my periods they were so much lighter and shorter afterwards. The ablation gave me relief from heavy bleeding. You will find it's a 50/50 with women, works for some not for others x
