I had an abdominal hysterectomy on 10 November last year and I can honestly say that I was fine and I was petrified before I went in. I had 2 lots of morphine when I woke up from the anesthetic and then went straight onto co-codomol every 6 hours and and paracetamol every 4 hours and I did not feel any pain. The only pain was if I sneezed or coughed now that really hurt. Good luck
Are you having this done at a bsge centre? I am due to have a hyst +BSO with excision from bowel/bladder on the 17th March. I'm pretty anxious too.
Make sure endo is excised at the same time. I had an abdominal hyster 2 years ago and I didn't know about endo then so didn't know it needed to be excised so I'm really bad pain still.
Hysterectomy associations website is great for loads of useful info and advice.
It really isn't as scary as it sounds and I found the nurses wonderful.
