I am having my op to remove some of my endometriosis which is mainly in the bowel and rectom, I was wondering if anyone has had this op for the same area and roughly how long I will be in surgery for

Hi Joanna, it completely depends on how much endo you have and where it is. Every case is different. I had it removed from my bowel and excised from my ligaments, tubes bladder and various other places. My left ovary and womb was also stuck to my bowel so had pulled down on the left side so they put that back in the right place . I didn't need a stoma bag. I was out for 7 hours (time between being put out in the prep room and waking up in recovery) but they did said it took longer then they thought it was going to. They said I'd need 6 weeks off work, but my job is quite demanding and I ended up taking 10 weeks off. Good luck, hope it all goes well xx
I've got it mainly in my bowel and rectom, and a bowel surgeon needs to be on stand-by I am worried as I am now having a different surgeon as mine is on long term sick leave but will not meet him and worried he doesn't know my needs and worries. 10 weeks is such a long time poor you!! They said a minimum of 2 weeks as long everything goes ok! I am a hairdresser so I think I will need longer off as I'm on my feet a lot!
Mine was the same too! The usual endo surgeon was off on long term leave and I had another consultant who was standing in. I was worried too but don't be. They wouldn't let anyone near you who didn't know what they were doing or was capable of doing the operation. You mind find because it's not his/her usual job they might not see it as just another op and he/she might be more thorough and take their time. I've had two ops now and on both occasions I've found they majorly underestimated the recovery time. Don't rush back if you feel sore and tired. Any surgery and just having anethestic can zap your energy! It's best to rest up for a Bit longer and if you're not feeling good or you're still in pain, then rush back to work and prolong your recovery. when is you're op planned for? It can be a tense time leading up to it so I do feel for you. I hope it all goes ok, go easy on yourself xx
