Possible Endometriosis following total hysterectomy.

Good afternoon,

I am 31, and just over 2years ago, I had a total hysterectomy leaving my ovaries as treatment for adenomyosis. I suffered with adenomyosis for 12 years and fought tirelessly to get to the point where I could have my op.

Adenomyosis is similar to endometriosis but rather than being in the walls of the womb it was in the muscles and the only cure was to have hysterectomy.

Anyway, I began to have pain again 18 mo the after my hysterectomy, but I was due to get married and put it down to nerves, however after my wedding the pain continued and painful intercourse became a burden.

Symptoms have progressively gotten worse and I am now back in the state I was in prior to my op. I have abdominal pain daily, back ache, painful sex, tiredness, I have pain when my bladder is full and pain when I wee, pain In my bowel when I need to go and just after I've been. I'm exhausted.

Has anyone had an hysterectomy and now suffer with endometriosis? I have always been clear of endo but now my doc is saying that this is what his theory is. I'm due at hospital on Feb 20th. I'm so down with being in pain xx

Hi. I had a total hysterectomy and my ovaries out 2 years ago and been suffering awful pain since. I too had adenomyosis but was diagnosed with endo too - it's quite unusual not to have both.

You'll have loads of people tell you endo can't grow after a hyster but it can. As you have your ovaries they can feed it oestrogen it can feed itself and hrt could too if you on an oestregen only one.

If you're in the U.K. Get to a bsge clinic. You can ask to be referred by your gp. They will probably too tell you it can't come back but just keep pushing. I'm now due excision surgery with bsge clinic and hope it helps.

Thanks so much for your reply. I guess I'm just so fed up that I'm back in this boat. I'm fed up of being in pain day in day out xxx

I so know where you're coming from. You go through major surgery and are still in daily pain. It's rubbish. Sending hugs. Xxx
