Endo and relationship insecurities

hi ladies,

Hope you`re all ok and as pain free as possible.

I wonder if you can give me some advice and guidance.

After splitting up with my partner of 6 years I`ve been started seeing someone new. I was diagnosed with endometriosis whilst with my ex and the relationship ended as he couldn't handle my condition and everything that comes with it.

Early on when I started seeing my new boyfriend I told him about my illness and he seemed really understanding about it. He helps me when I'm having my flare-ups and wants to help in anyway he can. I worry that he is going to get bored of the situation and it`s making me incredibly insecure. he is quite an active person and I struggle with a lot of physical activities because of the unpredictable nature of the flare ups and lack of energy (most days I can just about drag myself out of bed to get to work survive the day and come home).

if you have been in this position how would you suggest I overcome this? This diagnosis has really hit my self confidence and I`m worried that the insecurity could affect the relationship if I don't do something about it

Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance xx

Hi,

You now by the sounds of it have a lovely new relationship with someone who cares about you and will support you through this.

I was staring to feel really sorry for myself and not doing much (might i add me and my partner have been together 7 years and i have only recently been having this problem) i said to my self i can either sit at home and let it rule my life or i can take pain killers and deal with it. There are things i cant do at the moment but take it one step at a time. Try something small and fun to do together and gradually try more things. ( a night watching a film with the duvet and snacks together doesnt use much energy and you can have your hot water bottle too)

If he really cares about you he will understand.

Hope this helps

Think you lucked out. You've got a good one there. You shouldn't worry and be thankful someone cares about you and is supportive of you with what is quite a unpredictable condition.

Maybe some counselling to build your confidence might be helpful? Meditation can help with this. I can recommend Headspace. There is a free version and if you like it you and then upgrade.

Good luck x
