Sitting a driving test.....

Hi ladies....hope everyone is doing ok....As you may know from one of my previous posts I am due to have surgery to unstick all of my reproductive organs and get rid of as much damage as possible (tubes facing inwards and swollen, possible removal of one tube, womb stuck to bowel and a couple of cysts which may just be left alone). I had been told to expect at least a 3 day stay in hospital afterwards as it is quite complicated surgery and a recovery of at least 6 weeks. I had a call on Friday to say that my surgery has been scheduled for the end of Feb but it falls on the day of my driving test. I'm really keen to pass my test before my op so will try and reschedule but this will put me under pressure to get it all done before the op. I could leave it until after the op but I am worried my recovery will be longer than 6 weeks and without going into too much detail, for a number of reasons I really need to pass before this surgery and recovery take over my life (its stolen enough of it already!!!!) ......sorry for rambling...I suppose I'm looking for advice re recovery times for driving and I suppose the emotional side of things for example will I be back to normal emotionally within 6 weeks. I know everyone is different and all our bodies react differently but it would be good to hear if anyone has any stories to share re driving or on their emotional wellbeing and concentration after op....

I would say go for your test before the lap. It is added pressure but if you pass it will mean one less thing to worry about while recovering. If you fail well you gave it a go and are no worse off than if you hadn't tried (except the cost) I failed my driving test loads of times (not a bad driver just couldn't handle the pressure) so if you do fail dont get hung up on that just chalk it up to experience and have another go once you are feeling better. I would say give yourself 3 months after the lap if you do need to retake as you dont want that added pressure rather use that time to recover and look after yourself.

Thanks JenH.....that is my attitude too, I just wanted someone else to reinforce it as my family can't really give an objective opinion as they just want me to focus solely on this op. However I have to look at the bigger picture and after 6 months off work already (for other reasons) I need to do everything i can to get my life back on track. Hope you are doing well, good luck for the year ahead
