Ovestin cream
I've not used it. So far as I understand it's a topical application of an oestrogen hormone called estradiol. It's believed to be closer in structure to what we produce than other synthetic oestrogen replacements. It's likely to have similar risks and benefits to hrt being oestrogen based. Though some say bio-identical hormone s are lower risk that's not been clinically proven yet. oestrogen can feed endo though. Why have you been prescribed it? As add back on GnrHs treatment?
Because of my endo Iv gone into early menopause so the gyno has prescribed the patches, tablets and the cream. I have to take all this medication till march when I see the gyno in the next appointment.
Makes sense. There's a scientific article here on bio identicals but it covers US ones so the names will be different. health.harvard.edu/womens-h...
Thanks starry I'll have a look at the article. Bleeding won't stop though had a light period and it's never stopped it's been 12 days now. 😐 Drs can't do anything.
hugs, I hope the treatment works for you. If it's an approved medicine on prescription it should be as safe as any other hormonal treatment as it's gone through the rigourous clinical trials. Much of the fuss is because of an issue with an unregulated alternative compounding industry that's developed in the USA.
