Colon endo

I had a colonoscopy today which showed polyps on colon, diverticular and twisted bowel. I am absolutely terrified I will end up with colostomy bag. Has anyone else had the same problem?

It's awful to find out endometriosis has so many knock on effects and I feel your pain.

Doctors recently found endometriosis in my bowel which meant bleeding from "the back" before and during my period. My hospital admitted they couldn't help and referred my to a specialist in London.

Whilst I wait for further developments (sadly endometriosis is a waiting game) I have been to see a Herbalist who has had success with previous Endo suffered - she created a mixture for me which I take twice a day.

Since taking it my symptoms have really subsided and I wish I could tell more people about it.

I wish you the best of luck and try not to worry - stress will only make symptoms worse. Research is the key. Keep healthy and follow an Endo lifestyle with food and exercise and rest.

Best wishes

Lara

I had similar - endo on the bowel, colonoscopy found a stricture. I was warned that my surgery might result in a temporary stoma.

I had surgery a couple of months ago with a multi surgeon team comprising of an endo specialist and a bowel surgeon. It was fine. They were very conservative with the bowel, essentially only cutting away what was safe and stopping before they did any damage. It means that I still have the bowel endo, (still bleed from bowel with my period) but the stricture was fixed and hopefully that will help with the symptoms.

Good luck. Bowel endo doesn't always result in a colostomy bag, they'll do everything they can to avoid it.

I think it's really important to weight up the pros and cons of having an operation. Will it actually reduce the symptoms and the pain? Is it going to grow back again and how quickly? Having had one operation and then for it to grow back elsewhere in my body within 6 months I had a tough decision - and realised that my best bet was to keep it under control - and it seems to be working. So please I didn't go down the route of the chemical menopause or more operations.

There are a great team of specialists at UCLH who I'm now with - and they're honest about the outcome and how much they really know about the disease.

I've learnt so much from researching alternative treatments and in times of need when doctors and hospitals just aren't giving you the answers it's sometimes good to take matters into your own hands as best you can.

Sending love to you all X
