Seen consultant today and strongly recommends I have an hysterectomy and placed me on waiting list. I'm 37 and although I know it's for the best I still feel very anxious about it and not sure what to expect. He has also said its my choice whether I have full or sub hysterectomy and really unsure which option to go with.

Hi do you have endometreosis only or is something wrong with your uterus.?

I had a hysterectomy july last year for adenomyosis I also have endometreosis, unfortunately i still have endometreosis issues and daily pain,

A hysterectomy isn't a cure for endometreosis and your best option is a thorough excision job of all endometriosis thus should be Carried out by a specialist in a bsge centre,

If you gave any questions for me I will do best to answer.

Good luck xxxx

Hi I'm 36 and about to have a hysterectomy on Monday (was meant to be last week but got delayed)

I have severe endometriosis but am having the hysterectomy due to my extreme heavy bleeding and clots, I will be having endo excised at the same time.

It's really about asking questions and finding out the reason for your hysterectomy, how it might benefit you, what outcome you can expect. I understand your anxiety but I think being armed with all of the information can really help. I saw 2 different consultants, asked a million and one questions, talked it over with my husband and everyone else and researched my surgeon. I am going for a subtotal hysterectomy and am trying to keep one ovary so I can still have a natural menopause. One ovary is completely destroyed by endo scar tissue and the other is adhered to my uterus so will see how it goes. If they manage to separate it easily I'll keep it but I'm not really that bothered.

I'm happy with my choices and know the most likely outcome for me but it is such a personal thing, what is right for one person does not necessarily suit another.

I do have a lot of pain with my endo but it is actually the heavy bleeding that really bothers me and once that's gone my life will be so much better.

Good luck with it xx

Good luck, bettyheslop! I am having a hysterectomy for the same reasons in August (at a BSGE with one of the best consultants). My pain is horrendous but it's the giving birth to fist size "clots" each month that I want my uterus gone.

Yes I am having a hysterectomy due to the heavy bleeding that stops me leaving the house during my period and I bleed almost everyday too.

Thanks Ladies, I am under specialist in endo who operated on me last time, when my uterus was attached to my adominal wall and they suspect it has happened again which is why he thinks it's best to have hysterectomy. He intends to leave my ovaries unless they are stuck down, but will need to decide whether I want my cervix removed. I'm aware may not completely make things better but he believes it will reduce the pain.
