After going to a&e for the first time last night for the pain, I went to my doctor today and he agreed to send me for a scan but he said it wouldn't show up the endo. I've never been sent for any scan or investigative procedure before so what are they looking for?
Having a scan, what can they find? - Endometriosis UK
Having a scan, what can they find?
The scans are just the first step, si your on the right road, it can show up cyst's and if things don't look normal,
But dosn't generally show endo up.
Once the scans cone back your go will refer you to gyne, good luck
What kind of scan? I had CT, but that did not show up any endo lesions. Then MRI , and that shown quite a few endo lesions.
A scan showed nothing online except a complex cyst but Mri in actual fact showed the cyst as a endometeioma and I have deep infiltrating endo on ligaments posterior uterine margins so mri is the best xx
I've had loads of scans (mris and sonograms) and they never really show anything, despite have stage 3 endo, adeno and in the past ovarian cysts. If you look up the measurements limitations for mri, you'll be shocked how little can be seen. However, as Shell1967 experienced, sometimes scans DO show up things, so it's always worth having them because you never know! Just don't let them tell you fob you off if nothing comes up!
